Spring flashback - The Lionberry Shawl(ette)

This one is a super flashback: The Lionberry shawl(ette).
The pattern is by Narniel of Endor (free on Ravelry) and even though I am not huge a fan of yellows, I liked it immediately.
I knitted it about two years ago (might be three even), but never took photos of it. 
The first fine days of the year were a great opportunity to catch up on this, enjoying the sun, Banh Mi and a nice Ginger lemonade.

This was a typical Nadelninja project, my choice of yarn being impulsive rather than apt for the pattern. Apt for the weather it was back then: I remember knitting it during our annual visit to Galicia in late autumn and it was quite cold and rainy.
I used Rowan Alpaca Colour which is not a lace yarn at all. But it had just charmed me so much in the shop (the charm of the yarn …) with its softness and its beautiful colour so that my brain went into sleep mode and I bought two skeins, determined to use it for the Lionberry shawl.

In the end, the two skeins weren’t enough and I had to leave out a few rows in the last part of the pattern. (I don’t know which ones exactly, because I threw out my notes during our moving into the new apartment last august. Why would I do that? No idea. Ask my exhausted, close-to-a-nervous-breakdown self from last year…). Nevertheless, the result is beautiful, rather a shawlette than a shawl, but I love it. It’s soft and warm, perfect for spring days with that fresh wind, and the different tones of yellow are just delicious. Cheers!

Hier kommt ein Super-Flashback: Mein Lionberry-Tuch. Das Design ist von Narniel of Endor (auf Englisch gratis auf Ravelry) und obwohl ich kein besonders großer Fan von Gelb bin, hat es mir sofort total gut gefallen.
Ich habe es vor ungefähr zwei Jahren gestrickt (könnten auch drei sein), aber nie Fotos davon gemacht. Zeit, das bei den ersten Sonnenstrahlen, leckeren Banh Mi und Ingwer-Limo nachzuholen.

Es war so ein typisches Nadelninja-Projekt, denn meine Garnwahl war eher impulsiv als tatsächlich für die Anleitung geeignet. Für das Wetter damals allerdings schon: Ich erinnere mich noch, dass ich das Tuch während unseres jährlichen Galicien-Besuchs im Herbst fertiggestrickt habe und es ziemlich ungemütlich war. Ich habe Rowan Alpaca Colour verwendet, das jetzt nicht gerade ein Lace-Garn ist. Aber es hatte mich im Laden mit seiner Weichheit und seiner herrlichen Farbe verzaubert (der Charme des Garns …), sodass mein Hirn kurz in Stand-by gegangen ist und ich zwei Stränge gekauft habe, fest davon überzeugt, daraus das Lionberry-Tuch zu stricken.

Am Ende haben die zwei Stränge nicht gereicht und ich musste im hinteren Anleitungsteil ein paar Reihen auslassen. (Welche genau, weiß ich nicht mehr und bei unserem Umzug letzten August sind meine Notizen dazu rausgeflogen. Warum? Keine Ahnung, fragt mein total fertiges, kurz vor dem Nervenzusammenbruch stehendes Ich von damals.) Trotzdem ist das Ergebnis wunderschön geworden, ein kleines Tuch halt, aber ich liebe es trotzdem. Es ist wunderbar weich und warm, perfekt für Frühlingstage mit diesem noch kühlen Wind. Und die changierenden Gelb-Töne sind einfach zum Dahinschmelzen. Prost!
