Last weekend the 12th Leipziger Wollefest took place, so I took the opportunity to visit my Mum and spend a day going crazy about yarn.
And crazy it was, my dear friends. We arrived on Saturday morning shortly after the fair opened and the line to enter was already (or still) about 1 mile long (or at least it felt like it). There were so many people it was basically impossible to take pictures of the booths. And there were so many such beautiful artsy-yarn brands! I admit I hadn’t realised how many great brands for hand-dyed yarn we have in Germany. Of course, the Wollmeise booth was absolutely crowded the whole time I was there, but I found some other treasures.
I had my list, but right at the beginning I caved and bought an incredible silk yarn from Ponderosa. The colour is called “Schöner Pfau” (beautiful peacock): a bright, vibrant turquoise. Unfortunately it was impossible to take a decent picture. The colour never looked like it actually does, so you have to imagine it. I don’t know what to knit with it yet, a shawl most likely (I mean, what else?!), but which one?
Then I found a nice Merino-Silk mix at the Fiber Passion booth. I was looking for a yarn to knit the Lobelia cardigan from Pompom magazine #4, and I think this one will look great. The colour is “Küstennebel” (coastal fog, which sounds weird in English, maybe “brume”? In Spanish it’s “bruma”, love the word!!). Can’t wait to start knitting. <3
And then I made another double tick on my list: I wanted a nice red/ruby/maroon yarn for my Agatha cardigan. I found it at the booth of a smaller yarn shop: It’s Rosy Green Cheeky Merino Joy. Yeah! I had wanted to buy some Rosy Green yarn because I like their policy. Again, the colour of the photo is only approximate to the real colour…
After discovering some more nice small German brands, I got weak at the Dibadu booth where I almost blew my budget. So much nice stuff! I wanted to get a camel/silk blend in a colour-way called “Eine Tasse Tee” (A cup of tea) but then didn’t find more colours to go with it (still thinking about that round-yoke jumper). So I pulled myself together and decided on a fingering-weight merino in the colour “Regenfront” (the internet says “front carrying rain”?). The weather was a bit of a theme it seems…
In the end I found this nice Spanish dragonfly fabric. The curious thing is that I had bought some half a year ago at Black Oveja in Madrid and got the last meter there. That’s a bit tight for a skirt, the fabric being only 1,10 m wide, so I was very happy to be able to get another one. :)
I also bought a sh…load of buttons. It doesn’t hurt to have a wide selection of buttons, does it?
Oh, I also had something awesome in the mail: My friend Maren @Häkelhexe has not only sent me a real(!) letter, but also made me some company for my working table. Now I have to find Baby Groot a comfortable pot.
Letztes Wochenende fand das 12. Leipziger Wollfetts statt, also habe ich die Gelegenheit genutzt, um mal wieder meine Ma zu besuchen und einen Tag mit frenetischem Wolle-Shoppen zu verbringen.
Frenetisch war nicht nur ich, sondern auch eine sehr große Menge anderer Leute. Es war schon ein Bisschen irre: Wir waren kurz nach Öffnung da und die Schlange am Eingang war noch/schon gefühlte zwei Kilometer lang. Es war so voll, dass es quasi unmöglich war, ein paar anständige Fotos von den Ständen zu machen. So viele tolle Indie-Wollmarken! Ich muss zugeben, ich hatte gar nicht auf dem Schirm, wie viele wunderbare Marken handgefärbter Garne wir in Deutschland haben. Selbstverständlich war am Wollmeise-Stand die ganze Zeit die Hölle los, aber ich habe noch eine Menge anderer Schätze gefunden.
Ich hatte eine Liste, aber gleich am Anfang bin ich schwach geworden und habe ein wahnsinnig tolles Seidengarn von Ponderosa gekauft. Die Farbe heißt “Schöner Pfau” und war leider unmöglich mit dem Fotoapparat einzufangen. Man muss es sich also vorstellen: ein kräftiges, leuchtendes Türkis.
Ich weiß noch nicht genau, was ich daraus machen werde, ein Tuch natürlich, aber welches?
Dann habe ich einen wunderschönen Merino-Seide-Mix bei Fiber Passion erstanden. Ich hatte etwas für die Lobelia-Jacke aus dem Pompom-Magazin Nr. 4 gesucht und glaube, das wird ganz toll. Die Farbe heißt “Küstennebel”. Ich kann es kaum erwarten, anzufangen. <3
Später konnte ich gleich zwei Dinge auf einmal abhaken: Ich habe eine Wolle in einem schönen (Dunkel-/Wein-)Rotton für meine Agatha-Strickjacke gesucht. Den habe ich am Stand eines kleinen Handarbeitsladens gefunden und es ist Rosy Green Cheeky Merino Joy. Juhu! Ich wollte schon länger Garn von Rosy Green kaufen, weil ich deren Konzept so toll finde. Auch hier ist die Farbe auf dem Foto leider nur ähnlich wie die tatsächliche…
Nachdem ich dann noch ein paar weitere großartige Marken entdeckt hatte, hat’s mich am Stand von Dibadu wieder erwischt und ich hätte fast mein Budget gesprengt. Wow, so tolle Garne und Farben! Ich wollte gerne einen Kamel-Seide-Mix in der Farbe “Eine Tasse Tee” kaufen, habe mich dann aber dagegen entschieden, weil ich nichts gefunden habe, was gut dazu passte (Meine Gedanken waren wieder bei diesem Rundpassenpulli.). Dafür habe ich eine wunderbare feine Merino-Wolle in der Farbe “Regenfront” mitgenommen. Das Wetter war irgendwie Thema…
Am Schluss habe ich noch diesen schönen spanischen Libellen-Stoff erstanden. Lustigerweise habe ich solchen schon vor einem halben Jahr im Black Oveja in Madrid gekauft und dort nur den letzten Meter bekommen. Das ist ein Bisschen knapp für einen Rock (der Stoff ist nur 1,10 m breit), daher war ich sehr glücklich, noch einen Meter mitnehmen zu können. :)
Ich habe auch jede Menge Knöpfe gekauft. Es schadet nicht, eine gute Auswahl davon zu Hause zu haben, oder?
Oh, und dann hatte ich auch noch Post! Meine Freundin Maren, die Häkelhexe hat mir nicht nur einen Brief geschrieben (einen richtigen!), sondern mir auch Gesellschaft für meinen Arbeitstisch gehäkelt. Jetzt braucht Baby-Groot nur noch einen schönen Topf.
